Welcome to my blog. I post here about the work I do helping people to write and edit their children's books, including manuscript critiquing and freelance editing. I feature and interview some of my clients, including several people who have chosen to self-publish their books. Recent client successes include being long- and shortlisted for the prestigious Chicken House competition, being signed by an agent, and having a book requested by OUP. Please get in touch if you have any questions - or have a look at my website to see more about my services.

It was incredible to have that insight. I have just finished a historical YA that explores a white girl, within a whiter than white world, until the one day she finds herself alone in a very different world. The setting is Detroit during the 1967 riots.
You see, growing up during that time, people were sadly a lot more outspoken about their racism. They didn't hide it much did they? I, as a very young girl, watched Detroit burn from my safe distance across the river, and I never understood the world much then, only saw what didn't make sense. In this novel, I suppose I took myself over to the other side during a significant moment in black history and I found someone who was just like me, except his skin was a different colour. I got to learn some things through his eyes.
You question everything as a young person looking for some kind of sense in things. I suppose as we get older we expect it to exist. 'The expectations of life come from diligence.'
And Kingsley, welcome to the blog! It's nice to have a student find me over here in cyberspace.
